Honest auto driver returns passenger's forgotten laptop with help from Ahmedabad Traffic Police

In a display of honesty and prompt action, an auto-rickshaw driver returned a laptop left behind by a passenger, with assistance from the Ahmedabad Traffic Police, officials said on Monday.

According to K division traffic police official, the incident occurred around 4 pm on April 20 when a passenger, identified as Mayank Deepakbhai Laugani (27), arrived in Ahmedabad from Hyderabad by flight and hired an auto-rickshaw from the airport to Gheekanta Court.

After reaching his destination and alighting from the vehicle, Laugani inadvertently left his laptop behind in the auto-rickshaw. Realising the lapse shortly thereafter, he attempted to trace the missing device.

Meanwhile, the auto driver, identified as Imranbhai Nurmohammad Chhipa, a resident of Shah Alam-Danilimda area, noticed the unattended laptop in his vehicle. Acting responsibly, he approached the K division traffic police and handed over the device to Head Constable Hemabhai Surabhai.

Police officials verified the ownership of the laptop after Laugani reached the traffic K division police station. Following due identification and in the presence of the auto driver, the laptop was returned to its rightful owner.

Officials appreciated the honesty displayed by the auto driver and highlighted the role of the traffic police in facilitating the prompt return of lost property.
