In a swift crackdown, the Ahmedabad City Crime Branch arrested a couple on Monday night for allegedly murdering a Home Guard jawan in a fit of rage following a verbal altercation near Delhi Darwaza. The accused — Badruddin alias Sabir alias Rafiq and his live-in partner Neelam Prajapati — were apprehended from Narol within hours of the attack, police said.

As per a statement issued by the Crime Branch, the incident occurred around 10.15 pm on July 21 near Javed Seasonal Store at the Delhi Darwaza crossroads. The victim, Kishan Rameshbhai Shrimali (34), was confronted by Badruddin, who accused him of staring at his partner. Enraged, Badruddin allegedly hurled abuses and, in a fit of violence, stabbed Kishan on the left side of his stomach, fatally injuring him and exposing his intestines.

The severely wounded Kishan, a resident of Bhoiwalani Pol in Shahpur, was rushed to a hospital where he succumbed to his injuries during treatment.

Based on eyewitness accounts, technical surveillance, and CCTV footage, the Crime Branch launched a manhunt and tracked the accused to Narol. The duo was handed over to the Madhupura police, where an FIR was registered under sections of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Gujarat Police Act. Following Kishan’s death, section murder was added to the case.
