Heritage Special Train Carries National Film Award Guests from Ekta Nagar to Vadodara

Western Railway’s Vadodara Division operated a special ‘Heritage Special Train’ from Ekta Nagar to Vadodara for National Film Award winners, leading film personalities and distinguished guests attending the 72nd National Film Awards ceremony at Kevadia.

The train departed Ekta Nagar at 9 pm, offering guests comfortable travel while showcasing the heritage of Indian Railways. The service brought together the experience of a steam-era locomotive with modern railway facilities.

Steam-Era Experience

Although the train operates on a modern electric system, special steam, smoke and traditional whistle and horn effects were arranged to recreate the feel of a historic steam locomotive.

• Six coaches were included in the train.
• The service featured modern passenger facilities and a pantry.
• A dedicated selfie point was also provided.
• Four AC Vistadom-type coaches were part of the train.
• These included three Executive Chair Cars and one restaurant/dining car.

Heritage Meets Modern Travel

The heritage train was introduced in 2023 between Ahmedabad and Ekta Nagar to promote tourism and highlight the rich heritage of Indian Railways. Its design combines heritage elements with contemporary passenger amenities.

Regular Weekend Service

For regular travellers, the heritage train operates every Saturday and Sunday. Train 09409 leaves Ahmedabad at 6.10 am and reaches Ekta Nagar at 9.50 am, while Train 09410 departs Ekta Nagar at 8.35 pm and reaches Ahmedabad at 12.05 am. The train also has stoppages at Vadodara in both directions.
