Heavy rain forecast for next six days in Gujarat

The first week of August brought light to moderate rainfall with isolated heavy showers in Gujarat. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall in the state for the next six days. 

Today, due to heavy rains, a yellow alert has been issued in the districts of Gir Somnath, Amreli, Bhavnagar, Bharuch, Surat, Tapi, Navsari, Valsad, Dang, Chhotaudepur, and Dahod. 

Additionally, heavy to very heavy rainfall is predicted in most districts of South Gujarat until Aug 26. On Aug 27, heavy rainfall is expected in some districts of South Gujarat and parts of Saurashtra. In the last 24 hours, 97 talukas in the state have experienced rainfall.

Over the past few days, light to moderate rain has been falling across the state, and in the last 24 hours, 97 talukas have received rainfall.

A yellow alert was issued on Aug 22 due to heavy rainfall in the districts of Dahod, Chhotaudepur, Narmada, Bharuch, Surat, Tapi, the Dangs, Navsari, and Valsad in south Gujarat. No warnings have been issued for the other districts of the state.

On August 23, a yellow alert was issued due to heavy rainfall in the districts of Bharuch, Narmada, and Valsad in south Gujarat. No warnings have been issued for the other 30 districts.

On August 24, heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected in most districts of south Gujarat. An orange alert has been issued for isolated locations in Navsari, the Dangs, and Valsad districts due to heavy to very heavy rainfall. 

On August 25, an orange alert was issued due to heavy to very heavy rainfall in the Mahisagar and Dahod districts. A yellow alert has been issued for isolated locations in Aravalli, Panchmahal, Vadodara, Chhotaudepur, Narmada, Bharuch, Surat, Tapi, Navsari, the Dangs, and Valsad districts due to heavy rainfall.

Ahmedabad expected showers

Heavy rainfall is also expected in some districts of Saurashtra on Aug 26. An orange alert has been issued for isolated locations in Bharuch and Vadodara districts due to heavy to very heavy rainfall.

A yellow alert has been issued for Valsad, Navsari, Dang, Surat, Tapi, Narmada, Chhota Udaipur, Panchmahal, Dahod, Mahisagar, Aravalli, Kheda, Anand, Gandhinagar, Ahmedabad, and Saurashtra’s Surendranagar, Botad, Bhavnagar, Amreli, and Gir Somnath due to heavy rainfall. No warnings have been issued for Kutch, Morbi, Jamnagar, Rajkot, Devbhumi Dwarka, Porbandar, Junagadh, Patan, Banaskantha, Sabarkantha, and Mehsana.

After five consecutive days of heavy to very heavy rainfall in south Gujarat, on Aug 27, a yellow alert was issued due to heavy rainfall at isolated locations in the Navsari and Valsad, and the coastal districts of Kutch, Devbhumi Dwarka, Porbandar, Junagadh, and Gir Somnath in Saurashtra.
