Heatwave likely to continue in Gujarat, temperature may reach 45°C

People across Gujarat are facing intense summer heat, and the weather department has warned that the heatwave is likely to continue for the next few days. According to the India Meteorological Department, temperatures in several cities may remain between 41°C and 45°C till May 14.
Ahmedabad Meteorological Department Director A K Das said the weather is expected to remain mostly dry from May 11 to May 17, with no significant changes in temperatures forecasted for the next four days. However, temperatures may drop slightly by 2 to 3 degrees after that.
An orange alert has been issued for Kutch and Surendranagar districts for the next three days due to severe heatwave conditions. Meanwhile, yellow alerts have been announced in several other districts, including Dwarka, Rajkot, Botad, Junagadh, Amreli, Banaskantha, Patan, Gandhinagar, Anand, Bharuch, Surat, and Ahmedabad.
The department has also predicted strong winds in some coastal areas. North Gujarat is likely to witness west to northwest winds, while South Gujarat may experience winds from the northwest to north. Wind speeds could reach up to 25 knots in some areas.
Ahmedabad also continued to experience scorching heat on Sunday, with the maximum temperature expected to stay around 44°C. Kandla Airport recorded the highest temperature in the state at 45.2°C, which was above the normal level. Surendranagar recorded a temperature of 45°C, while Ahmedabad reached 43.3°C. Heatwave conditions were also reported in Surat, Porbandar, Keshod, and Gandhinagar.
