The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for heatwave conditions across Gujarat for the next five days starting Friday, indicating a sharp rise in temperatures after a brief period of relief.

The respite in heat over the past few days was attributed to the impact of a western disturbance. However, weather officials have warned that temperatures are set to rise again, with intense heat likely to prevail across the state from now.

According to the forecast, coastal regions of Saurashtra and Kutch are expected to experience hot and humid conditions, while maximum temperatures across Gujarat may increase by 2°C to 4°C over the next four days.

In Ahmedabad, the maximum temperature was recorded at 35.7°C on Thursday, which was 3.3 degrees below normal. However, temperatures in the city are expected to climb to around 39°C over the next three days.

Elsewhere in the state, Bhuj recorded 37.2°C, Rajkot 37.1°C, Gandhinagar 35.4°C, Vadodara 35.2°C, Surat 33.8°C, and Bhavnagar 32.4°C as the average maximum temperatures.

Officials have advised residents to take precautions as summer conditions are likely to intensify in the coming days.
