The sweeping surge in heart attack cases in the state continues to be a concerning trend, claiming the lives of people of all ages, professions, and localities.

As per the records from the Emergency Management & Research Institute (EMRI) which provides ambulance service 108 in Gujarat, the number of cardiac emergencies increased by 13,000 cases this year compared to last year, effectively increasing over 1000 cases a month on an average.

Heart-related emergencies up by 27%

There has been an overall rise in cases of heart disease by 27% compared to last year, with a 32% rise in heart attack cases among youth and a 37% increase among teenagers.

Between January till September 25, a total of 46,155 heart-related emergencies were registered. Among these cases, 1,714 occurred in teenagers, 4,937 cases in individuals aged 21 to 30, and 6,732 in people aged 31 to 40.

The above figures depict an alarming rise and a noticeable surge in heart-related emergency cases over the years.

However, 2020 and 2021 saw considerably fewer cases related to heart disease.
