Habitual offender injures self at Amraiwadi police station, makes allegations against constable

In a dramatic turn of events at Amraiwadi police station on Monday evening, a habitual offender identified as Chandan Kedar Singh Rajput allegedly inflicted injuries upon himself while under the influence of alcohol and later falsely accused police personnel of assault.
According to police sources, on Monday, Rajput, a resident of Jagdish Pandit’s Chali in Bhilwada, Amraiwadi, was reportedly injured and in a heavily intoxicated state began accusing a police constable of attacking him. However, subsequent enquiries and eyewitness accounts indicate that Rajput injured himself inside the police station using a sharp object.
Unarmed Head Constable Sanjay Kumar Madhabhai, currently posted with the Amraiwadi police surveillance squad, stated in the complaint that Rajput had a long criminal history, with 19 offences registered against him between 2016 and 2025. These included charges related to assault, property crimes, and prohibition offences.
Officers were verifying the whereabouts of such habitual offenders, especially those involved in gambling and gangster activity in the area. When police attempted to verify Rajput’s residence, he was not present. Later, Rajput was spotted in the area with a young boy.
Upon being confronted, Rajput allegedly became aggressive, used abusive language, and assaulted a policeman on duty. He also threatened officers, claiming he would kill them and drag them to court. In an attempt to calm him down and prevent further disruption, police escorted him into the PSO office, where he reportedly struck his head against the wall, resulting in further bleeding.
The boy accompanying Rajput was identified as Sunny Rajkumar Rajput, who later told officers that Chandan had deliberately injured himself with a blade before coercing him to accompany him to the police station.
Based on the incident, an FIR has been lodged against Chandan Kedar Singh Rajput under various sections of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), and the Gujarat Police Act. The case is currently being investigated.
