What if you got to know that the toll plaza you were crossing and paying tax on all the time was a sham? While it seems next to impossible, in a shocker, miscreants have been unlawfully collecting toll taxes on a highway in Morbi for over a year.

After fake officials, offices, and schools, a town in Gujarat’s Saurashtra has now witnessed a fake toll plaza!

After the visuals of the toll plaza in Wankaner’s Vaghasiya in Morbi went viral, officials initiated an investigation and unearthed a scam which was going on for almost 1.5 years.

Accused retired from the force?

As per reports, a retired army personnel named Ravi was allegedly involved in this scam. The accused used to operate a toll booth by renting an inoperative ceramic factory in Vaghasiya. They used to charge ₹50 from four-wheelers, ₹100 from small trucks, and ₹200 from heavy trucks.

The officials issued a notice to the owner of the factory. The district collector has also passed orders for further investigation in this case. More details of how much tax was collected, who is the main accused, and who all were involved in this scam are awaited.

The revelation has led to questions on the law and order situation of the town and highway authorities.
