Gujarat’s GST earnings rise by 14% in FY 2024-25 compared to last year

Gujarat’s earnings from Goods and Services Tax (GST) increased by 14% in the financial year 2024-25 compared to the collections in FY 2023-24, the Department of Gujarat State Tax reported on Tuesday.

The department stated that Gujarat earned a revenue of ₹73,281 crore from GST in FY 2024-25, which is 14% higher than the ₹64,133 crore collected in FY 2023-24. This growth rate surpasses the national GST revenue growth rate, which stands at 9.4%.

Additionally, the department highlighted that besides GST, the state earned ₹33,896 crore from VAT, ₹11,741 crore from excise duty, and ₹261 crore from business tax. The total revenue for the financial year amounted to ₹1,19,178 crore.

In March 2025, the state collected ₹6,193 crore from GST, ₹2,793 crore from VAT, ₹1,325 crore from excise duty, and ₹24 crore from business tax, bringing the total revenue for the last month of the financial year to ₹10,335 crore.
