Gujarat University postpones UG, PG exams amid polls, over 1.5 lakh students affected

In a major development for students, Gujarat University has revised the examination schedule for multiple undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) courses in view of the upcoming local body elections, impacting around 1.5 lakh students.

The university had earlier planned exams in five phases, out of which two phases have already been completed. However, the remaining three phases, covering key semesters of UG and PG courses, have now been rescheduled.

As per the revised timetable—

• Exams that were scheduled to begin from April 16 will now commence from May 1
• Exams slated for April 24 have been postponed to May 12
• Exams planned from May 5 will now start from May 21.

The changes will affect students from Arts, Commerce, Science, Law, and Education streams, including those enrolled under the New Education Policy (NEP) and integrated courses. Students of B.A., B.Com., B.Sc. (Semesters 2, 4, 6), along with M.A. and M.Com., will now have additional preparation time, although the delay may also push back result announcements.

The decision was taken due to the involvement of university staff and infrastructure in election-related duties. The revised schedule has been communicated to all affiliated colleges and departments.

University officials said necessary arrangements, including exam centres and essential facilities like water and electricity, will be ensured for conducting exams during the peak summer in May.

Under the new schedule, a wide range of courses including B.A., B.Com., B.Sc., BBA, BCA, LLB, B.Ed., MA, M.Com., M.Sc., and various NEP and integrated programmes will be conducted across the three revised phases in May.

Exams starting from May 1:

B.A., B.Com., B.Sc., BBA, BCA, BRS (Semesters 4 and 6), M.A. (Semester 3), Integrated Courses (Semesters 2, 4, 6, 8, 10), LL.B. (Semester 2), and B.Ed. (Semester 2)

Exams starting from May 12:

M.A., M.Com., M.Sc., MRS, MMCJ, M.Ed. (Semester 2), B.A., B.Com., B.Sc., BBA, BCA (Semester 2), and UG courses under NEP (Semester 4)

Exams starting from May 21:
