Gujarat University's announcement that the campus will remain closed for two days, starting Monday, for the Special Convocation ceremony and the PhD entrance exam for the first time in the university’s history has upset students and visitors.

According to the university administration, the campus will be closed on Monday for the Convocation and again on Tuesday for the PhD common entrance test. On both days, administrative departments and academic activities will remain suspended.

The students’ union has opposed the decision , arguing that many students from outside the city and state visit the campus for various purposes. They also pointed out that Gujarat University is a key institution in Ahmedabad, and closing it entirely for two days could cause difficulties, especially for those needing urgent documents. The union stated that this was not an ideal decision.
