In a partial relief to industries amid recent supply disruptions, the Gujarat government has decided to increase bulk LPG allocation to key sectors, allowing up to 70% of their requirement.

The move comes in the backdrop of a temporary ceasefire in the ongoing tensions involving the United States, Israel, and Iran, which has impacted global LPG supply chains. Since the conflict began, industries in Gujarat have received only 0.1% to 10% of their bulk LPG demand.

As per the new decision, industries including pharma, food, polymer, agriculture, packaging, paint, steel, ceramic, glass, and aerosol sectors will now be eligible to receive up to 70% of their LPG requirement based on their March 2026 consumption.

However, the government has capped the total allocation at 200 metric tonnes per day across the state.

Officials said the benefit will be extended only to industries where LPG usage is essential and where piped natural gas (PNG) is not a viable alternative. Additionally, units seeking allocation must register with public sector oil marketing companies to avail the supply.

The decision is expected to ease operational pressure on several industrial units that were struggling due to severe fuel shortages over the past few weeks.
