Gujarat Likely To Receive Rain From September 12-14; Yellow Alert Issued

After keeping farmers and crops waiting for nearly a month, the rain finally returned to parts of Gujarat on Wednesday. By evening, parts of Kutch, Bhavnagar and Amreli districts had received up to half an inch of rain in some talukas, raising hopes of a wetter Bhadarvo month.

With three weather systems becoming active simultaneously, the India Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for rain across most parts of Gujarat from September 12 to 14.

Rain and thunderstorms forecast across South Gujarat, Ahmedabad, Vadodara

Rainfall activity had largely remained subdued across Gujarat for nearly a month, pushing temperatures higher. In Ahmedabad, temperatures have touched around 35°C in recent days, resulting in increased humidity and discomfort.

However, weather conditions are expected to change from Saturday. An upper-air cyclonic circulation over the Bay of Bengal, another system near Saurashtra and the monsoon trough are currently active, increasing the possibility of renewed rainfall over Gujarat.

18 talukas receive rain

On Wednesday, around 18 talukas, including Abdasa, Mahuva, Jesar, Dhrangadhra, Jafrabad and Lakhpat, received light to moderate rainfall, with rainfall recorded at up to 12 mm in some areas.

According to the forecast, winds of 30-40 kmph are expected on September 12 and 13.

Heavy rain likely in several districts

On Saturday, rain is likely in Vadodara, Chhota Udepur, Narmada, Bharuch, Surat, Tapi, Dang, Navsari and Valsad.

On Sunday, rainfall is expected in Vadodara, Junagadh, Amreli, Botad, Gir Somnath, Bharuch, Surat, Tapi, Dang, Navsari and Valsad.

On Monday, heavy rain is likely in Jamnagar, Porbandar and Devbhumi Dwarka, among other districts.

Meanwhile, Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, Mehsana, Kheda, Anand, Surat and Bhavnagar are likely to receive rain accompanied by thunderstorms on September 12 and 13.
