Gujarat state election commission announces gram panchayat polls for 8,326 villages

The Gujarat State Election Commission has officially announced the Gram Panchayat elections for 8,326 villages across the state. The elections are being held after a delay of over two and a half years.

Addressing a press conference in Gandhinagar, State Election Commissioner Dr S Murali Krishna unveiled the complete election schedule. The formal notification will be issued on June 2, 2025, with the last date for filing nominations set for June 9.

Notification date: June 2, 2025

Last date to file nominations: June 9, 2025

Scrutiny of nomination forms: June 10, 2025

Last date to withdraw candidature: June 11, 2025

Polling day: June 22, 2025 (from 7 am to 6 pm)

Re-polling (if required): June 24, 2025

Vote counting: June 25, 2025

Conclusion of election process: June 27, 2025

The final publication of the voter list was completed on May 27, and the Model Code of Conduct came into immediate effect following today’s announcement.
