Gujarat SMC seizes liquor worth ₹22 crore in 2024

In 2024, the State Monitoring Cell (SMC) of Gujarat seized liquor worth ₹22.52 crore as part of its crackdown on illegal alcohol. The SMC operates directly under the guidance of the Director General of Police (DGP).

The SMC registered 455 cases in total, out of which 347 were related to the seizure of foreign liquor and other illegal substances.

Liquor seized from police commissionerate range

Ahmedabad: ₹61 lakh 

Vadodara: ₹1.47 crore

Surat: ₹51 lakh

Rajkot: ₹48,000

Regional range seizure in Gujarat

Surat Range seized the most, with liquor worth ₹3.92 crore

Ahmedabad : ₹1.45 crore

Gandhinagar: ₹2.88 crore

Vadodara: ₹2.46 crore

Gondal: ₹1.93 crore

Rajkot: ₹3.64 crore

Border: ₹2.05 crore

Bhavnagar: ₹1.35 crore

Meanwhile, Junagadh had the lowest seizure value, with only ₹12.59 lakh worth of liquor, and the Railway Police seized liquor worth ₹6.71 lakh.
