Gujarat SMC nets over ₹28 lakh worth of mephedrone in Sarkhej

In a significant anti-narcotics operation, the Gujarat Police's State Monitoring Cell (SMC) conducted a raid on October 24 at a residential premises in Harmain 33 in Sarkhej, seizing a large consignment of mephedrone along with cash, vehicles, and other valuables.
The police recovered 289.7 grams of mephedrone, valued at approximately ₹28.97 lakh. In addition, three mobile phones worth ₹35,000, cash amounting to ₹1.23 lakh, two vehicles valued at ₹23 lakh, a money-counting machine worth ₹10,000, and four weighing scales worth ₹800 were seized. The total estimated value of the recovered items stands at ₹53.66 lakh.
The main accused, Parvezmiya Shaikh, along with co-accused Mohammad Zaid Qureshi, both residents of Harmain 33 residency, were handed over to the Sarkhej police for further investigation. Two other individuals, Mohammad Husainbhai Aala of Junagadh and Tejas Kirtikant Kareliya of Sarkhej, identified as customers of the seized drugs, were also taken into custody.
Police have listed three others as wanted in connection with the case, including alleged suppliers Aazamkhan and Arbazkhan and customer Noman Sheikh from Vejalpur, Ahmedabad. The primary accused, Parvezmiya Shaikh, reportedly has a previous criminal record under the NDPS Act.
Police officials stated that the seizure is part of an ongoing crackdown on the illegal sale and distribution of synthetic drugs in Ahmedabad, with further investigations underway to trace the suppliers and other accomplices involved in the network.
