In the race for IITs and NITs and forming excellent careers as engineers, students across the nation look up to joint entrance examination (JEE) results.
As the national testing agency rolls out the NTA scores of JEE Mains 2024-Section 1, two students hailing from Gujarat shine in the list of 23 national toppers.
Rajkot shines nationally
Rajkot’s Meet Parekh has stood out as a state ranker, achieving a 100 NTA score, and Dwija Patel, also from Rajkot, excelled as India’s top female candidate with a 99.99 NTA score.
An English-medium student throughout her schooling, Patel aspires to become a computer engineer. Her father, Dharmesh Patel, said that he is a mathematics teacher, and her daughter also had an interest in the subject, and she pioneered with full marks in mathematics in JEE.
Parekh and Patel have both secured 290 marks from 300 in the mains.
This time, Ahmedabad’s students have not achieved a 100 NTA score but have achieved a 99.99 NTA score.

The 23 nationwide toppers include students from Telangana (7), Andhra Pradesh (3), Tamil Nadu (1), Delhi (2), Maharashtra (3), Rajasthan (3), Karnataka (1), Haryana (2), and Gujarat (1).
The toppers include two from the economically weaker section (EWS), one from SC, one from ST, four from the other backward castes (OBC), and 13 from the general category.
Out of 11,70,048 candidates, a total of 2.5 lakh students throughout the country have qualified for JEE-Advance.
The examination was held between Jan 27 and Feb 1, 2024, in 13 different languages.
Notably, the JEE mains examination was also conducted in 21 cities for offshore students in Manama, Doha, Dubai, Kathmandu, Muscat, Riyadh, Sharjah, Singapore, Kuwait City, Kuala Lumpur, Lagos/Abuja, Colombo, Jakarta, Moscow, Ottawa, Port Louis, Bangkok, and Washington, DC. It was also conducted in Abu Dhabi, Hong Kong, and Oslo for the first time.
