Amid the intense workload of the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral roll across India, a tragic incident was reported from Mehsana district in Gujarat. Dinesh Rawal, a teacher at Sudasana village school and serving as a Booth Level Officer (BLO), died of a heart attack while working on SIR-related tasks at home.

Rawal, who was simultaneously handling school duties and BLO responsibilities, suddenly collapsed while completing voter list revision work. His death has sparked shock and concern across the teaching community and raised questions over work-related stress while rendering election duties.

The incident follows similar reports from Gujarat and West Bengal earlier this month, where BLOs have died during SIR-related duties.

Arvind Vadhere, a teacher at Chhara Girls Primary School and a resident of Devali village, died by suicide, leaving behind a note directly blaming the stress of SIR (Special Intensive Revision) work.

Vadhere, who had been serving as a teacher since 2010, wrote in his note that he was exhausted and mentally burdened by the responsibilities of SIR duties.

Earlier, in Kapadvanj, teacher Ramesh Parmar died of a heart attack while carrying out BLO responsibilities.
