Gujarat records 1.11 lakh TB cases in 10 months, ranks sixth in India

Gujarat registered 1.11 lakh tuberculosis (TB) cases between January and October this year, averaging 303 new cases per day. The state ranks sixth in the country for the highest number of TB cases during this period.

Currently, Gujarat averages 303 new TB cases daily. Among the states with the highest TB cases in the 10 months of this year, Uttar Pradesh topped the list with 6.04 lakh cases, Bihar followed with 1.80 lakh at third, and Maharashtra was second with 1.88 lakh cases.

According to the Gujarat Health Department, the state has achieved 95% of the targets set by NITI Aayog regarding TB case registration and successful treatment, while the treatment completion rate has been recorded at 91%.

Gujarat was given a target of identifying and registering 1,45,000 TB patients in 2024, against which 1,37,929 patients were successfully identified and registered. Additionally, 1,24,581 patients were successfully treated, resulting in a treatment completion rate of 90.52%.
