Gujarat ranks third in swine flu deaths in country

In just one year, 55 people have died of swine flu in Gujarat. The state ranks third in the country, after Kerala and Maharashtra, for the highest number of swine flu deaths.
There has been an 18-fold rise in deaths due to swine flu in Gujarat.

By November 2024, Gujarat had recorded 1,696 swine flu cases. The highest number of cases in the country was reported in Karnataka with 3,489 cases, followed by Kerala with 3,307, Delhi with 3,112, and Maharashtra with 2,057.
According to data comparing the years 2023 and 2024, Gujarat saw an eight-fold increase in swine flu cases in 2024 compared to the previous year.
In 2023, Gujarat had 212 swine flu cases, with 3 deaths. In 2024, the state recorded 1,696 cases and 55 deaths.
