Gujarat raises wages for visiting specialist doctors in public hospitals

The Gujarat government in a cabinet meeting on Tuesday took an important decision under the CM Setu scheme – to increase the honorarium of visiting specialist doctors serving in district hospitals, sub-district hospitals and community health centres.

Health minister and spokesperson Rushikesh Patel said an honorarium of ₹4,200 per day will be provided to all private specialist doctors visiting district hospitals, sub-district hospitals and community health centres of the state after a minimum three-hour mandatory service per day under the CM Setu scheme.

Earlier, paediatricians and general physicians were provided  ₹3,000 per day and other specialist doctors ₹2,000 per day.

Additionally, visiting non-surgical super specialists working in government medical colleges, GMERS-run medical colleges and affiliated hospitals were paid ₹8,500 per day after 3 hours of compulsory service. For surgical super specialists, it was ₹2,700.

Now, an honorarium of ₹8,500 per day will be paid to both surgical and non-surgical super specialists after a minimum of three hours of compulsory service.
