85 water bodies on high alert
Average seasonal rainfall in the state so far is 76.62%

Gujarat is witnessing its fourth round of seasonal rains in the state; and the Met department has predicted light to moderate rains in many areas of the state today and on July 30.
Light to moderate rain forecast for next five days
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted normal rain in the state for the next five days. Light to moderate rainfall is likely to occur in areas including Saurashtra-Kutch, south Gujarat, and Ahmedabad-Gandhinagar.
The numbers state that 128 talukas have received rain in the last 24 hours. Jetpur Pavi of Chhotaudepur received 8.36 inches of rainfall, Bodeli 7.8 inches, Jambughoda six inches, and Chhotaudepur as a whole received six inches of rain. The Orsang river in Chhotaudepur has overflowed due to heavy rains.
South Gujarat drenched in rain
Surat and South Gujarat received heavy rainfall with thunderstorms in the evening of July 27. Navsari received 10 inches of rainfall in six hours, whereas Jalalpore received 7 inches.
2,500 people were evacuated in Navsari due to warnings issued for the Purna river. Eight inches of rainfall were received in Valsad’s Kaprada, and Surat’s Bardoli received eight inches of rainfall. In South Gujarat, 254 roads are blocked due to heavy rainfall.
Total rainfall in the state
The state has received an average of 76.62% of the season’s rainfall so far, with Kutch and Saurashtra zones receiving more than 100%. North Gujarat has received 62.84% of the rainfall, whereas 66.78% of the rainfall is received by south Gujarat.
Central Gujarat has only received 59.98% of its rainfall. Moreover, among the 206 water bodies in the state, 85 are on high alert, 21 are on alert, and warnings have been issued to 17 water bodies.
