Gujarat Police raid yields drugs, cash amounting to ₹23 lakh from Danilimda

The State Monitoring Cell (SMC) of Gujarat Police unearthed a drug distribution racket in Ahmedabad’s Danilimda area, seizing over ₹23 lakh worth of narcotics, cash, and other items. One person was arrested, while six others, including the suspected main supplier, are currently at large.

The raid was conducted on the night of August 5 and 6 at a residence in Alhabib Society, near Hasan mobile shop in Beral market, Danilimda. The case has been registered under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

During the operation, police seized:

Mephedrone weighing 117.690 grams, estimated to be worth ₹11.76 lakh,

Hashish (charas) weighing 49.860 grams, valued at ₹7,252,

Three mobile phones worth ₹15,500,

 Cash amounting to ₹7.18 lakh,

 One vehicle, estimated at ₹4 lakh, and

 A digital weighing scale worth ₹100.

The total seizure amounts to approximately ₹23.18 lakh.

The arrested accused has been identified as Javed Umarbhai Mevati (36), a resident of 5, Alhabib Society, Beral market, Danilimda. He has been booked as the main accused in the case and was handed over to the concerned police station for further legal proceedings.

According to police sources, six other individuals are wanted in the case, including the alleged narcotics supplier:

 Fardinkhan Pathan alias Khansab, resident of Pratapgarh, Rajasthan,

Pankaj, an associate of Fardinkhan,

  3–6. Four unidentified customers, whose mobile numbers have been tracked but whose identities remain unconfirmed.

Efforts are underway to trace and apprehend the absconding accused. The police have not ruled out the possibility of a wider interstate drug network and are probing deeper into supply chains and digital communications recovered during the raid.

A senior officer from the SMC said, “The arrested accused was operating from a residential locality, indicating the covert nature of the operation. We are analysing mobile records and financial transactions to identify the full network involved.”

Further investigation is ongoing.
