In the wake of a car blast reported in Delhi, the Gujarat Police have been placed on high alert as a precautionary measure, even as the cause of the explosion remains under investigation.

According to officials, the state’s Director General of Police (DGP) Vikas Sahay has directed all police commissioners and district superintendents across Gujarat to heighten vigilance and ensure enhanced security measures in their respective jurisdictions.

The alert, issued as part of precautionary protocol, instructs intensified checking at entry and exit points of all cities and districts, particularly in major urban centres and border regions. Police teams have been asked to conduct nakabandis (checkpoints), vehicle inspections, and increased patrolling to maintain public safety and visibility.

A senior police official said that while there is no specific threat input to Gujarat, the alert has been issued “to ensure readiness and prevent any untoward incident”. Security personnel have been instructed to stay vigilant at transport hubs, crowded areas, and sensitive installations across the state.

The Delhi Police and central agencies are still investigating the cause of the blast, which occurred earlier in the day. Gujarat Police have meanwhile activated their statewide alert network to ensure coordination and rapid response capability in case of any related developments.
