2 Gujarat police officers to get President’s Police Medal for Gallantry (PPMG) and 18 others to be conferred with Police Medal for Meritorious Service

The police medals were announced today to honour the ‘khakis’ of the country for their efforts and distinguished service.
A total of 954 medals were announced. One recipient will be awarded the President’s Police Medal for Gallantry (PPMG), 229 will receive the Police Medal for Gallantry (PMG), 82 will be honoured with the President's Police Medal for Distinguished Service (PPM), and 642 will be presented with the Police Medal for Meritorious Service (PM).
Two police officers from Gujarat, Khursheed Manzar Ali Ahmed, additional director general of police (planning & modernization), Gandhinagar and Intelligence officer, Gandhinagar, Vishalbhai Devshibhai Chauhan, will be honoured with the PPM on the occasion of Independence Day, 2023.

18 police officers of Gujarat will be honoured with the Police Medal for Meritorious Service (PM).

What are these police awards about?
President's Police Medal for Distinguished Service
The PPM is given to individuals who have spent at least 21 years in the police force or central police and security organisations are honoured with the PPM for distinguished service.
Police Medal for Meritorious Service
This medal is given for non combat meritorious performance or service that elevates the individual above his peers while serving in one of the assignments for which the medal has been authorised.
