Gujarat police launches 15-day special traffic drive across state to curb road accidents

The Gujarat Police have launched a special 15-day traffic enforcement drive starting Wednesday. As per instructions from the Director General of Police, the campaign will be carried out across major cities including Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Surat, and Rajkot, along with other districts in the state.

The drive will run from 25 February 2026 to 10 March 2026.

According to police officials, road accidents have increased significantly this year compared to last year. Many of these incidents are linked to violations under the Motor Vehicles Act. To curb accidents and ensure strict compliance with traffic rules, authorities have initiated this mega enforcement campaign.

Police to focus on these 8 violations

During the special drive, strict action and fines will be imposed for the following offences:

Drunk driving: Strict action against those driving under the influence of alcohol.

Helmet violations: Two-wheeler riders not wearing helmets.

Wrong-side driving: Vehicles moving against traffic direction.

Number plate violations: Vehicles operating without proper number plates.

Dark tinted windows: Cars with excessively tinted black films.

Illegal LED lights: Unauthorised white LED lights fitted on vehicles.

Overloading passengers: Carrying passengers beyond permitted capacity.

Illegal parking: Unauthorised parking on highways or public roads.

Police officers have been instructed to submit daily reports of enforcement activities in a prescribed format via email by 12 March 2026.

Authorities have appealed to motorists to strictly follow traffic regulations and cooperate with the enforcement drive to ensure safer roads across Gujarat.
