Gujarat passengers affected by goods train derailment near Palghar, 98 trains affected

After a 24-hour-long operation of the Western Railway (WR), the track which was affected on May 28 due to the derailment of the goods train at Palghar over the Mumbai - Surat section, was certified fit with speed restriction on May 29.

However, 98 trains were cancelled, terminated or rescheduled, thousands of passengers were affected by the delay.

Trains running between Mumbai and Gujarat were highly affected due to the derailment.

Ahmedabad-Mumbai Central Karnavati Express was shortened till Vapi

Ahmedabad-Mumbai Central Double Decker Express was shortened to Valsad station.

Trains affected on May 28 

The Jodhpur-Bandra Terminus Suryanagri Express, Surat-Ahmedabad-Borivali Express, and Bhuj-Bandra Terminus Kutch Express were shortened till Surat.

Bhuj-Dadar Sayaji Nagari Express and Bikaner-Dadar Express were shortened to Vadodara.

Bikaner-Dadar Express was shortened till Ankleshwar. 

Bikaner-Dadar Express was stopped at Anand station.

These trains were then returned to their original stations which affected multiple passengers.

Over 1,700 passengers were sent from Ankleshwar station in 10 buses.

Seven other Surat, Vapi, and Valsad-bound buses were also brought to Ankleshwar station to carry passengers.

However, a large number of passengers were also stranded at Bharuch railway station. They had to use other modes of transport.

Around 25 buses were made available to travel to Mumbai for passengers stranded at Anand station.
