In a bizarre statement that contradicts the Gujarat government’s recent legislative efforts to eradicate black magic and superstition, Minister of Food and Civil Supplies Bhikhu Singh Parmar has claimed that he recovered from a brain stroke not through medication, but through a black magic ritual. His comments have sparked controversy, especially given the state’s recent efforts to eradicate superstition.

During a public event in Talod, Parmar shared a personal anecdote claiming that he recovered from a brain stroke not through medical treatment, but through a black magic ritual performed by a local practitioner. “When I suffered a brain stroke, the traditional medicine did not help as much as the black magic ritual did,” Parmar asserted. He went on to state that the ritual not only facilitated his rapid recovery, but also resulted in his early discharge from the hospital, which he described as an unprecedented recovery time of just eight days.

A few days earlier, Parmar had been admitted to U N Mehta Hospital in Gandhinagar for treatment after suffering a brain stroke while having breakfast at his residence.

The government has declared its commitment to take action against those promoting such practices. However, Parmar’s praise for black magic has raised questions about the government’s stance on this issue and the effectiveness of its new laws.

The video of Parmar’s controversial remarks has gone viral on social media, leading to a broader discussion about the credibility of government officials who openly support practices that the state is officially working to eradicate.
