In a major step towards easing processes, the Gujarat Law Department has introduced a single 'Universal Affidavit' format that will be accepted across the state.

The new standardised affidavit aims to reduce paperwork, minimize hassle, and make government services more transparent and citizen-friendly.

According to the official announcement, the Universal Affidavit will be mandatorily accepted by all government offices, service centers, and authorities functioning at district, taluka, rural, and urban levels.

It will also be fully integrated into the Digital Gujarat Portal and all Jan Seva Kendras, offering significant convenience to applicants submitting documents online.

The government has clarified that the new affidavit will not replace self-declarations in services where affidavits are not legally required.

In such cases, the existing simple self-declaration process, as per the General Administration Department resolution, will continue.

The official format, prepared in both Gujarati and English languages, is designed for easy understanding and accessibility for all citizens.

Officials believe the move will particularly benefit rural residents and frequent users of government services by standardizing procedures statewide.
