Gujarat introduces e challan payments for traffic violations via UPI

Fines for traffic rule violations can now be paid via UPI apps digitally in Gujarat, including popular apps like Google Pay, PhonePe, BHIM, and YONO, thanks to Bharat Bill Payment System (BBPS).

The payment facility was launched in collaboration with the State Bank of India (SBI).

Since 2023, vehicle owners in Gujarat have been able to pay their fines online via the 'One Nation One Challan' application using various methods such as net banking, debit/credit cards, Unified Payments Interface (UPI) through the m-Parivahan website, and PoS machines.

How it works?

From now on,  users can simply need to open the application, select the State Traffic Branch, Gujarat option, and proceed with payment. The inclusion of BBPS provides motorists with more convenient online payment options, making the fine payment process smoother and easier.

Funds collected through this facility will be verified and settled in accordance with the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) guidelines for online payments, ensuring both transparency and efficiency in the fine collection process.
