On Nov 26, a western disturbance brought unseasonal rains in 220 talukas of Gujarat, which experienced moderate to heavy rains and even hailstorms. With the sudden change in the weather, rains amid winters meant bad news for the farmers of the state.

However, cabinet minister of agriculture and animal husbandry, Raghavji Patel has ordered a survey of the damage caused by unseasonal rains, which may result in compensation for the farmers whose crops were damaged.

All the district officers of the agriculture department have been instructed to stand by. Chief minister Bhupendra Patel was also made aware of the situation. After surveying the damage, the state government is likely to announce assistance.
