Gujarat Home Department questions former CID Crime chief and other officials

In the Gandhinagar Police Headquarters, a controversy erupted following a surprise inspection by the State Monitoring Cell into corruption allegations and delays in handling complaints within the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of CID Crime.

The Home Department took serious note of the matter and on Monday, the department summoned Director General of Police Vikas Sahay, Deputy Inspector General (SMC) Nirlipt Rai, Additional Director General of Police (Law & Order) Rajkumar Pandian (former CID Crime chief) and in-charge Additional Director General of Police Ajay Chaudhari.

According to sources, other officials are also expected to be questioned in the coming days.

A few days ago, allegations surfaced that officials in the EOW were intentionally delaying investigations and were involved in corruption.

Acting on this, DGP Sahay had instructed SMC head Rai to conduct a surprise check. It was officially stated that the purpose of the check was to ensure proper procedures were being followed and to provide necessary guidance for the handling of complaints.

However, during the ongoing investigation, PSI Sisodiya was suspended. It was also discussed that the surprise inspection conducted by the SMC led to the discovery of irregularities in several complaint cases.
