Gujarat HM Harsh Sanhavi holds meeting with forensic lab officers on DNA effort

Gujarat Home Minister Harsh Sanghvi on Saturday held a high-level meeting with senior officials at the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) in Ahmedabad to review the ongoing investigation into the tragic Air India plane crash.
Addressing to media after the meeting, Sanghvi said, “The Gujarat Forensic Science team has been working tirelessly for the past two days to match DNA samples collected from the crash victims and their family members.”
He further informed that the central government has deployed a team of forensic experts to assist with the identification process and speed up the investigation.
The crash that occurred on Thursday, when Air India Flight AI-171, en route from Ahmedabad to London, crashed into the BJ Medical College complex shortly after takeoff. The aircraft burst into flames, resulting in at least 266 fatalities.
Air India confirmed that 241 passengers on board were killed, while one passenger miraculously survived and is currently undergoing treatment.
