The Gujarat Home Department has announced a significant increase in the daily honorarium for Traffic Brigade (TRB) personnel, raising it from ₹300 to ₹450.

Deputy Chief Minister of Gujarat, Harsh Sanghvi stated that Traffic Brigade personnel play a crucial role in managing traffic on the state’s roads and described them as “real soldiers” of traffic regulation.

He said their work, carried out in challenging conditions such as extreme heat and heavy rainfall, ensures the safety and convenience of the public.

The Traffic Brigade system, initiated by the Traffic Education Trust in major cities including Surat, Rajkot and Vadodara, has since been expanded across the state. The volunteers support the police in traffic management and enforcement, particularly during peak hours and at busy junctions.

According to a Home Department resolution issued in 2018, TRB personnel were receiving an honorarium of ₹300 per day until now. In view of the scope and responsibility of their work, the state government has decided to increase the amount to ₹450 per day.

The revised honorarium will benefit more than 10,000 Traffic Brigade personnel and their families across Gujarat. Officials said the decision would come into effect immediately and is expected to provide financial encouragement and recognition to those serving on the roads.
