The Gujarat High Court has launched an in-house developed electronic filing solution under the eGujHC project, taking a significant step towards complete digital transformation of court proceedings. Chief Justice Sunita Agarwal inaugurated the paperless court module on September 30, 2026, in the presence of other High Court judges.
Pilot Phase To Cover Three Areas
The initiative puts into action the roadmap outlined in the eGujHC Vision Document 1.0. During the initial pilot phase, the paperless court module will focus on three major areas of litigation — arbitration, tax and service matters.
The project will subsequently be expanded to cover all jurisdictions.
Role-Based Digital Dashboards
The eGujHC platform has been designed to establish an end-to-end paperless judicial system. It provides interactive, role-based dashboards for judges, lawyers, litigants and Registry staff.
The platform includes multi-factor and biometric authentication, along with tools aimed at making digital court proceedings more efficient.
Digital Tools For Judges And Courtrooms
The system features AI-powered Registry scrutiny for the immediate detection of defects in filings.
Judges will also have access to touch-pen annotation tools, while an automated page-matching system will allow documents to be matched with the corresponding pages displayed on courtroom screens.
Case Updates To Be Sent Through WhatsApp
The platform is also designed to improve communication with stakeholders. Case updates, hearing dates and court orders will be sent directly through WhatsApp.
The High Court will provide round-the-clock online e-filing facilities for main cases and interim applications as part of the initiative.
The paperless court module is aimed at reducing procedural delays and promoting ‘Ease of Justice’ for citizens across Gujarat.
