Gujarat HC advocates to continue strike, delegation meets CJI over judge transfer

The strike by Gujarat High Court advocates over the proposed transfer of Justice Sandeep N Bhatt continued on Thursday, disrupting routine court proceedings for the third consecutive day.
Advocates gathered outside the High Court, raising slogans and staging protests against the transfer order.
Why transfer?
Justice Bhatt had earlier directed CCTV cameras to be installed across the High Court registry and raised questions on its functioning, which reportedly triggered resentment.
Advocates meets CJI
A special committee of the Gujarat High Court Advocates Association (GHCAA), including President Brijesh Trivedi, Senior Advocate Asim Pandya, Advocate Bhargav Bhatt, and Advocate B M Mangukia, met Chief Justice of India B R Gavai in New Delhi on Thursday afternoon. The delegation submitted a written representation, urging the collegium to immediately withdraw the transfer order in the interest of justice.
According to members present, the CJI heard the concerns patiently, sought additional copies of the representation, and assured that the matter would be discussed with collegium members before a final decision is taken.
The delegation also met Justice Surya Kant later in the day. Meanwhile, the Advocates Association has decided to continue the boycott until further updates from the Supreme Court.
