Following the escalation of tensions between India and Pakistan after ‘Operation Sindoor,’ launched in response to the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22, which claimed the lives of 26 tourists, the Gujarat government had suspended all leaves for government employees.

However, with tensions easing after the ceasefire agreement signed between India and Pakistan on May 10, the government has now issued a statement allowing employees to resume applying for leave. Border areas in Gujarat have also witnessed a return to normalcy, bringing relief to local residents.

The government clarified that while leaves will now be approved, they may be cancelled immediately if tensions rise again, and officers would be required to report for duty without delay.

Additionally, employees on leave are expected to remain available and stay connected via email and phone communication.
