The Gujarat government has indicated before Gujarat High Court that it is considering handing back the management of Seventh Day Adventist School in Ahmedabad’s Maninagar area, months after taking control following the murder of a Class 10 student by a fellow student on campus.

In the aftermath of the shocking incident, the state had taken over the administration of the school. However, the government has now informed the court that a recommendation has been made to withdraw the earlier order, paving the way for the school’s management to be restored. A final decision in this regard is expected soon.

The high court disposed of the school’s plea after the state clarified its position. Officials also told the court that along with restoring management, there is a recommendation to share the findings of the inquiry committee with the school authorities.

This would allow the institution to formally respond to the conclusions drawn in the probe related to the incident.

The development signals a possible reversal of the government’s earlier stance, nearly four months after it assumed control of the school following the tragic case that had raised serious concerns over student safety and institutional accountability.
