Gujarat govt directs 4 municipal corporations to oversee cleanliness in 20 municipalities

To ensure the level of cleanliness in both metropolitan cities and remote towns of Gujarat, the government has assigned special responsibility to the municipal corporations of Surat, Gandhinagar, Ahmedabad, and Vadodara. They will focus on eight key areas, such as:
How to dispose of waste accumulated at public tourist spots and markets
- How to segregate waste
- How to scientifically manage solid waste
- Cleanliness of public toilets
- Disposal of used water
- How to raise public awareness
- Regular health check-ups
The 20 municipalities identified by the government have been divided into zones under the four municipal corporations. For nearly 100 days, these four corporations will train municipalities on adopting a cleanliness-focused approach.

- Surat Municipal Corporation: Mandvi, Palitana, Vallabhipur, Chalala, Savarkundla
- Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation: Vadnagar, Jamjodhpur, Maliya Miyana, Kutiyana, Sikka
- Amdavad Municipal Corporation: Sanand, Wankaner, Salaya, Mundra Baroi, Ranavav
- Vadodara Municipal Corporation: Savli, Limdi, Sihor, Surendranagar, Jamraval
