The Gujarat government has announced a significant increase in the incentive amounts awarded to SC (Scheduled Castes) and SEBC (Socially and Economically Backward Classes) category students who secure top ranks in the state Class 10 and 12 board examinations. The decision has been taken under the ‘Chhatrapati Shahuji Maharaj Incentive Award’ scheme, aimed at promoting academic excellence among students from socially and educationally disadvantaged backgrounds.

As per the revised structure, students securing 1st, 2nd, and 3rd ranks at the state level in all streams (General, Science, Vocational, and UB) will now receive:

1st Rank: ₹51,000 (earlier ₹31,000)

2nd Rank: ₹41,000 (earlier ₹21,000)

3rd Rank: ₹31,000 (earlier ₹11,000)

At the district level (for General and Science streams), the new reward amounts are:

1st Rank: ₹15,000 (earlier ₹6,000)

2nd Rank: ₹11,000 (earlier ₹5,000)

3rd Rank: ₹9,000 (earlier ₹4,000)

This revision will be implemented for the 2025-26 academic year, with a budget allocation of ₹53 lakh. Only students appearing in the March-April board examinations will be eligible for this benefit.

The award amount will be credited directly to students’ bank accounts through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system.

In cases where multiple students secure the same marks, all eligible students will receive the incentive. However, each student will receive only one award – whichever is higher between state and district level.
