Gujarat government cancels employee leaves amid Indo-Pak tensions

The Government of Gujarat has cancelled all types of leaves for officials across all departments, boards, corporations, panchayats, municipal corporations, and autonomous and grant-in-aid institutions.
“Given the prevailing situation, all types of leave for officers and employees of all departments and offices of the state government, as well as boards, corporations, panchayats, municipal corporations, and autonomous and grant-in-aid institutions, have been cancelled with immediate effect,” wrote Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel on X on Friday.
“Instructions have also been issued to the heads of the respective departments or offices to ensure that officers and employees currently on leave report back to duty with immediate effect,” he added.
The officers and employees have been instructed not to leave headquarters without prior approval from the head of the department, a government notification mentioned.
A circular, dated Tuesday, instructs all medical, paramedical and associated personnel under the Health and Medical Services Department to report back for duty at their respective headquarters without delay. The directive follows a broader instruction from the Health and Family Welfare Department of the Gujarat Secretariat, issued on Friday.
On Friday, CM Patel held a high-level meeting in Gandhinagar, where districts in Gujarat that are connected to Pakistan via sea, land, and air borders have been placed on high alert. In this context, details of the precautionary security measures being implemented in each district were obtained via video conferencing from administrative officials, police, and other senior district officers.
