Gujarat ex CM Vijay Rupani’s mortal remains traced as DNA matches

Gujarat  Home Minister Harsh Sanghavi on Sunday confirmed that former state CM Vijay Rupani’s DNA was matched at 11.10 am. The mortal remains will be taken to his residence in Rajkot by Sunday evening. According to reports, the body will be brought to Prakash Society in Rajkot, where preparations for the final rites have already begun.

Rupani, the BJP leader was en route to London to join his wife and daughter. He was among 241 passengers who lost their lives in the fateful Air India 171 plane crash in Ahmedabad’s Meghaninagar area on June 12.

DNA tests have confirmed the identities of 31 victims killed in the catastrophic plane crash in Ahmedabad, and 12 bodies have already been handed over to their families, authorities at Civil Hospital stated on Sunday.

Cyber fraud amid sorrow

Amid the chaos at Ahmedabad Civil Hospital, some anti-social elements have decided to cash in on the tragedy. While DNA testing is underway, reports have emerged that some fraudulent elements and cyber scammers have become active. In this regard, Civil Hospital’s Additional Superintendent Dr Rajnish Patel said, “People should not fall prey to phone calls or demands for money. The hospital is a unit of the Gujarat government, and no money or fees is  charged here.”

So, those who have lost their loved ones in the plane crash are especially advised to stay alert and cautious.
