Gujarat Cyber Crime busts ₹2 cr Instagram gaming app fraud, 7 arrested

CID (Crime) arrested seven individuals involved linked to Instagram gaming application fraud. The police seized ₹2 crore of funds from 17 different bank accounts.
The State Cyber Crime Cell of CID (Crime) has busted a gang where accused were found to be luring people through Instagram, offering in-game coins for a gaming application.
Officers from the State Cyber Cell of the CID Crime Branch received a tip that large-scale fraud was being committed using several active mobile numbers in Gujarat. During an investigation into complaints filed at various police stations across the country, the account number of Banaskantha Mercantile Co-operative Bank in Palanpur was discovered. Based on this, the police formed multiple teams to investigate and uncovered shocking details.
It was revealed that some individuals from Palanpur were creating gaming application IDs on Instagram and offering coins to play on these apps. Since the coins were linked to bank entries, the recipients were later threatened with being falsely implicated in criminal cases.
Using this as leverage, the accused extorted lakhs of rupees from the victims under the pretext of ‘settlements’.
Following this, police raided a house in the Nidhi Bungalows in Palanpur and arrested the accused identified as Shailesh Chaudhary, Sendha Chaudhary, Jitendra Chaudhary, Suresh Chaudhary, Rahul Chaudhary, and Narsinh Chaudhary.
The police seized 13 mobile phones, 14 bank passbooks, cheque book, debit-credit cards, and cash from the raid.
The police are further investigating the matter.
