Gujarat CM holds high-level meeting to review border areas amid Indo-Pak tensions

Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel held a high-level meeting in Gandhinagar on Friday to review alertness and preparedness as a border state, amid tension between India and Pakistan.
Districts in Gujarat that are connected to Pakistan via sea, land, and air borders have been placed on high alert. In this context, details of the precautionary security measures being implemented in each district were obtained via video conferencing from administrative officials, police, and other senior district officers.
Instructions were given to ensure that all district control rooms and emergency operation centres remain operational at all times under the current tense situation.
The meeting also included directives to activate evacuation plans for border villages in the concerned districts, to ensure preparedness in civil defence, identify sensitive areas and safe locations, and confirm the adequate availability of water, food, and other essential resources.
The state recommended sufficient stockpiling of fuel such as petrol and diesel, proper coordination between the health and transport departments, and the inspection of alternative communication channels like hotlines and satellite phones.
Instructions were also issued to conduct public awareness campaigns to prevent unnecessary panic or fear among the people and to avoid the spread of rumours that may mislead the public.
The Indian Army, Indian Air Force, Indian Navy, Indian Coast Guard, Border Security Force, and other central agencies are working vigilantly, and the state government is fully prepared to provide any assistance they require promptly.
“Prime Minister Narendra Modi had a telephonic conversation with me, during which he inquired about the current tense situation at the border and the preparedness of Gujarat as a border state, as well as the proactive measures undertaken by the state government. He also provided necessary guidance in this regard,” wrote CM Patel on X.
“PM specifically sought details about the adequate steps taken by the state government to ensure the safety and security of citizens in sensitive districts such as Kutch, Banaskantha, Patan, and Jamnagar, which are connected to the Pakistan border,” he added.
