Gujarat CM directs 300-lake refill to tackle potential impact of El-Nino

In a proactive move to mitigate the potential impact of El-Nino, Gujarat Chief Minister - Bhupendra Patel convened a high-level meeting in Gandhinagar to oversee the state’s comprehensive preparedness.
To ensure water security, the government has increased the filling limit for lakes along the Narmada pipeline from 3 km to 7 km. Furthermore, authorities have been ordered to fill 300 lakes across the state and critical dams in Saurashtra to guarantee an uninterrupted drinking water supply.
The government has introduced "contingency crop planning" and will leverage the AI-based “Krishi Pragati Portal” to provide expert guidance to over 50 lakh farmers. Regarding animal husbandry, the CM assured that the state currently holds a robust fodder stock sufficient for two years, with additional procurement orders in place.
The government is committed to protecting farmers and citizens from climate-related challenges through meticulous micro-planning.
