Gujarat municipalities election results: BJP sweeps all, Asaduddin Owaisi’s party gains seat in Bhuj

Vote counting for Gujarat’s local body elections is underway, with results starting to emerge from civic bodies across the state.
Elections were held for 84 municipalities. Polling took place on April 26.
The municipalities recorded 59% voting.
According to the State Election Commission, a total of 732 candidates were elected unopposed ahead of the polls. This includes 385 such candidates in municipalities.

AIMIM enters Bhuj
In Bhuj of Kutch district, Asaduddin Owaisi’s party, the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM), has made its entry by winning Ward No. 1. In Bhuj Nagarpalika, three AIMIM candidates have secured victory.
In Muslim-majority areas, the party has dented the Congress vote base.
Congress wiped out for the first time in Rajpipla’s history
Counting for Rajpipla Nagarpalika has been completed, with the BJP sweeping the municipality in a historic victory.
Out of 28 seats, the BJP has won 25 seats, while 3 seats have gone to independent candidates. Both Congress and AAP failed to win a single seat.
This marks the BJP’s biggest-ever win since the formation of the municipality. For the first time in history, Congress has been reduced to zero seats in Rajpipla.

The BJP has won 30 out of 36 seats in Jam Khambhaliya Nagarpalika, securing a clear majority. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) opened its account with 5 seats, while 1 seat went to an independent candidate. BJP won panel victories in most wards, sweeping aside the opposition.

Congress registers landslide victory in Vadali Nagarpalika
A major dent has been made in what was considered a BJP stronghold.
Out of 24 seats, 20 seats have gone to Congress.
BJP has won 4 seats in the Vadali municipality.
By noon, trends show the BJP leading with 1,171 seats, while the INC has 211 seats and other parties have 47 seats.
