Gujarat cancels 6.34 lakh ration cards in six years, over 75 lakh still active

Gujarat currently has around 75.17 lakh active ration card holders. Over the last six years, authorities have cancelled 6.34 lakh ration cards for various reasons, including 69,102 cards cancelled in 2025 alone.
The Union Ministry of Food and Public Distribution had earlier instructed all beneficiaries to complete e-KYC within the deadline. However, several cardholders failed to finish the process, including many found to be holding fake or duplicate ration cards.
Those who do not complete e-KYC before December 31, 2025, may face cancellation.
As per another Central government guideline, ration cards of beneficiaries who have not collected subsidised grain for over six months will be deactivated. A door-to-door verification and e-KYC process will determine eligibility within the following three months.
