In the latest expansion of the Gujarat cabinet, the Education portfolio has been consolidated under a single cabinet minister, covering school, higher, and technical education.
The move is expected to improve coordination, administration, and implementation, which had faced challenges when these divisions were handled separately.
Dr Pradyumn Vaja has been assigned the unified Education portfolio. Previously, primary, secondary, and adult education were overseen by Cabinet Minister Kuber Dindor, while higher and technical education was managed by Cabinet Minister Rushikesh Patel alongside the Health and Medical Education department.
At the state ministerial level, Rivaba Jadeja will manage primary, secondary, and adult education, while Trikambhai Chang will handle higher and technical education.
This restructuring reduces the need for multiple ministers to oversee programmes and institutions, streamlining decision-making and execution.
Meanwhile, Praful Panseriya has been given an independent state minister role with an expanded portfolio, including Health and Medical Education. Dindor’s cabinet responsibilities have been scaled down in the new arrangement.
