In Saurashtra-Kutch, the hunger for power in local self-governing institutions has blinded political parties to such an extent that all rules, ethics, and ideals are being disregarded.

A shocking video from Rapar, Kutch has surfaced, allegedly showing BJP workers distributing ₹500 notes in exchange for votes.

The viral video shows a man wearing a BJP scarf, carrying bundles of ₹500 notes in a bag. The man can be seen taking out one note at a time and handing it to people, urging them to vote for the lotus symbol.

Congress leader Mahesh Rajput, who released the video on instagram, stated that there is growing resentment against the BJP in Rapar. He also wrote that “BJP members are distributing money in Ward No. 1, Navapara area!”

Is this how public outreach is done? Is this how the BJP wants to win elections in Gujarat? he asked,  highlighting an example from Geliwadi Society, Street No. 9, where residents have put up a board stating that since they do not receive proper drainage cleaning services and are forced to drink dirty and salty water during summers, they will only vote for the candidate who resolves these issues.

The Congress leader further alleged that the person distributing money for votes is a former BJP-ruled municipality member, and the new candidate was also present with him.

The matter has been reported to the Election Commission.
